Working paper. Polish micro-entry closing the Group C Inner European ATT set after Hungarian tulajdonít and Bulgarian приписвам. Geometry from Lexical_Entry_Attribute_Argument_Structure and Group A Larson shells; NegQ maps from Negative_Questions_Attribute (chats 15 / 26) and the Attribute Group C shell plate (chat 04: PL GEN-neg beside HU Focus and BG cluster). Index 2 Attitude prints obwiniać / winić, przypisywać on one line — this page deepens the ascribe-content reading of przypisywać. Constructed diagnostics diagnose ACC Charge + DAT Target, missing with/DOC/za/na clothes, light-noun przypisanie (GEN vs DAT spelled apart), and the ATT / blame / MERIT / XFER·FIN splits. They are working-paper hypotheses, not spontaneous-speech citations and not fake elicitation. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Hungarian, German, Dutch, Norwegian, and Bulgarian ATT twins already live. There is no Polish MERIT page. Navajo stays deferred.
Constructed examples. Frames below are packaging hypotheses aligned with the lexical entry, Group A / Group C shell plates, the NegQ Attribute paper, and the live Hungarian and Bulgarian ATT twins. Cause-true and settlement are not entailed — same missing defaults as creditMERIT and blame. Do not fake elicitation. Completed-event strings use perfective przypisać; the Index 2 lemma remains imperfective przypisywać. XFER / FIN ledger strings appear only as contrast pointers and are not Index 2 Attitude forms.
Sense-class · ATT / blame / MERIT / XFER split (Index 2 line). Index 2 lists Polish Attitude as obwiniać / winić, przypisywać (Vols. 3, 6). This page deepens the ascribe-content reading of bare przypisywać as √ASCRIBE (content / cause / authorship geometry; polarity open). Blame obwiniać / winić, and the contrast pair oskarżać / winić, ascribe fault (ACC typically Target) — live at blame-pl.html. No credit-merit-pl.html exists; do not invent that link or a merit lemma. Ledger / book-HAVE readings sit at attributeXFER and a FIN MeasureP / Account pointer only. Bare ATT keeps ACC Charge + DAT Target as content-ascribe.
Scout / deferred. Light-noun przypisanie is scout-leaning. Where the paradigm splits the heads, GEN = possessor / Judge and DAT = Target (przypisanie rady vs przypisanie radzie). Bulgarian на cannot spell that split. A syncretic form (wykonawcy = GEN or DAT) keeps the ambiguity — flag it, do not rank it. GEN-neg on a FIN/deduct MeasureP is a different object. Navajo HANDLE packaging is deferred. No fake elicitation.

Hierarchy

Same inventory as English attributeATT, Spanish atribuir, French attribuer, Italian attribuire, Mandarin 归因于, Japanese 帰する, Hungarian tulajdonít, German zuschreiben, Dutch toeschrijven, Norwegian tilskrive, and Bulgarian приписвам. Not five-place. Not four sisters of one V. Surface count can name the board, the early completion, the contractor, and an outer cause — but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √ASCRIBE.

Intended labeling (shared with English · Polish cloth)

√ASCRIBE + VoiceJ(Judge) + Charge + Target  ·  hierarchy Cognizer / Judge > Charge / Content > Target

Voice introduces Judge (proto-Agent of the attitude). The ascription relates Charge to Target under HOLD. Polish spells the productive cloth as ACC Charge + DAT Target — przypisywać coś komuś. Morphological dative on the noun is real here (unlike Bulgarian, where nominal case is gone and на plus a pronominal slot spells “DAT”). Weak pronouns mu / jej / im are that same Target, not a doubled copy and not a DOC. Light-noun przypisanie parks Charge-type content in GEN and Target in DAT; a distinct GEN on the event noun is the possessor / Judge. Optional high Affectee / outer CAUSE wrap Voice; they are not listed inner arguments.

No MeasureP on ATT. There is no verbal Amount+Denomination object unless Charge itself has been recoded as a quantified share (hybrid — flag, do not deepen as verbal MeasureP). Degrees that sneak in live on the Abney spine of Charge or of a light noun — Left Branch Condition for sell / pay / chargeFEE / creditFIN does not apply as a verbal diagnostic here. Group C Polish GEN-neg rewrites MeasureP of FIN/deduct. It does not rewrite ATT Charge as GEN. ATT Charge under nie is content association. The accusative string in the NegQ diagnostic is the working-paper packaging; it is not an elicited denial that other Polish accusatives take genitive of negation.

What Group C changes for Polish is morphological DAT on Target, the GEN/DAT split on przypisanie, and multiple-WH fronting as an open packaging flag. What it does not change is the inventory. Weather still satisfies Target and fails Judge. Cause-true is still not entailed. Charge and Target still do not invert at Transfer cost. Treating attributeATT as Agent > Theme > Goal, collapsing it with blame because both sit on the Index 2 line, inventing a merit page, or collapsing it with XFER/FIN because a ledger can also name an account, predicts a DOC, a HAVE entailment, a MeasureP LBC host, a productive with-frame, or a grammatical weather-as-Judge — none of those exist on ATT.

Polish frames · Case clothes

Group C packages ascribe-content without a productive DOC. Productive cloth: Charge ACC, Target DAT (przypisywać coś komuś). Cheap NegQ association and cheap WH track ACC = Charge or the DAT Target. Blame keeps ACC on Target (obwiniać / winić; contrast oskarżać). XFER / FIN ledger strings are pointers only. There is no Polish clitic doubling: mu is the Target, not a second writing of it.

# Czy nie przypisali wczesne ukończenie wykonawcy? — meaning the contractor didn’t cause it. cause-true not a default

A bare nie on the canonical NegQ most readily challenges the ascription event or the ACC Charge. Challenging the Target wants the dative already in the associate (firmie, jemu). Negation does not grow a double-object and does not create a z-frame, a za/na blame cloth, or a MeasureP on ATT. HOLD is not cause-true — parallel to MERIT’s missing cause default and FIN’s missing payout default. MERIT itself is not given a Polish page on this tick. Ordinary genitive of negation on other accusatives is a different object; this page does not recruit it onto ATT Charge and does not pretend to have elicited it.

WH / NegQ diagnostics · cluster note · no MeasureP LBC

Unlike sell / payGIVE / chargeFEE / bet / creditFIN, attributeATT has no verbal MeasureP. There is therefore no Left-Branch Condition of the Amount-from-Denomination type on √ASCRIBE. Degrees that appear are DP-internal on Charge or on a light noun (przypisanie scout). Group C Polish GEN-neg on MeasureP does not rewrite ATT Charge as GEN.

  1. ✓ Kto przypisał wczesne ukończenie wykonawcy? WH = Judge
  2. ✓ Co przypisała rada wykonawcy? WH = Charge · ACC · rada disambiguates the dative
  3. ✓ Komu przypisali wczesne ukończenie? WH = Target · DAT komu · productive

  11. * Zła pogoda co przypisała wykonawcy? weather still not Judge

The shared hierarchy ranks Judge > ACC Charge > DAT Target > outer. Polish multiple-WH fronting is a packaging note on that hierarchy (Group C cluster), not a fourth sister and not an elicited superiority paradigm. There is no ranking of Charge against a silent Purpose, Price, or Theme₂. Cheap NegQ association tracks the focused Case object (Charge under ACC; Target under DAT). Productive Target WH is komu.

DAT Target ≠ Goal HAVE · Charge ≠ FIN MeasureP · ≠ blame ACC · ≠ merit root

DAT Target = ascribee under HOLD — not sell Recipient HAVE, not allocate Goal with optional HAVE, not FIN wallet / Account. Charge = content of the attitude — not ledger Amount, not sell Price, not pay Consideration. Blame’s ACC is Target (obwiniać / winić; contrast oskarżać); ATT’s ACC is Charge. Index 2 does not print a Polish merit root; do not invent one. Group C: Polish GEN-neg rewrites MeasureP of FIN/deduct; ATT keeps content association and does not put GEN on Charge. Same dative letters can show up next to a ledger account — different object.

Geometry · attributeATT ≠ oskarżać/winić ≠ MERIT ≠ attributeXFER ≠ sell

In Rada przypisała wczesne ukończenie wykonawcy, the board holds that the early completion is ascribable to the contractor. That is ascription, not HAVE of goods and not ledger INCREMENT. The early completion is Charge. The contractor is Target. HOLD is an attitude; cause-true is not a presupposed fact. Polarity is open — content-ascribe, not a meritorious default.

Polish ATT never assigns four structural Cases. Charge is ACC. Target wears morphological dative (or lives inside the light-noun DAT). No low ApplHAVE. No low ApplSWAP. No ApplTASK. No MeasureP (unless quantified-Charge hybrid — flag). High Appl / Affectee is extra when present and is not a listed argument of √ASCRIBE. Perfective przypisać is not a second root on this tree.

Composition is V(DP) on the ACC Charge. DAT Target is Case on the Abney spine of Target (same cut as Hungarian DAT / English to): V(DP), not a Path. Early completion does not travel a path; the contractor is not a Goal with HAVE rights. mu / jej / im resume Target; go / ją / je can resume Charge. Unlike Bulgarian, the pronoun does not double a prepositional copy of the same Target.

Inanimate Target is fine. Inanimate subject as Judge is not generated — that is the Voice filter, not a Case accident. Passive promotes Charge (zostało przypisane). It does not promote Target into a subject that still takes a bare ACC Charge. Impersonal przypisano suppresses a named Judge; it does not add an argument.

Outer CAUSE wraps Voice. The causee, not the weather, is the Judge. Weather still fails as inner Judge under the wrap. There is no Neg-raising out of Charge.

Omission does not demote Charge to a pure adjunct. Selected Case layers are optional in the numeration; they are still arguments when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under Case, binding, and WH — not omitability. Charge clauses are islands in a way rationale adjuncts are not.

Outer cause · Voice filter survives

✓ Czy nie kazali radzie przypisać wczesne ukończenie wykonawcy? outer Neg denies causing · DAT causee = inner Judge · constructed

* Czy nie kazali złej pogodzie przypisać opóźnienie wykonawcy? weather still not inner Judge

Group C packaging · Polish closes Inner European ATT

Group C (Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish) is the Inner European Focus / cluster / GEN-neg contrast set already predicted for NegQ on blame / sell / bet / chargeFEE / credit. Same hierarchy as English attributeATT. Hungarian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as morphological DAT, with unique preverbal Focus and Focus+nem. Bulgarian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as pronominal DAT and/or на-PP; multiple WH can front together; the light-noun на does not split GEN vs DAT. Polish hosts Charge as ACC and Target as morphological DAT. Multiple WH can front together (kto co / kto komu co — cluster hypothesis, not a ranked elicitation). The light noun spells GEN (possessor / Judge) and DAT (Target) apart when the noun’s paradigm does (rady vs radzie; firmy vs firmie). Polish GEN-neg on a MeasureP is a FIN/deduct fact and is not rewritten onto ATT Charge. This tick is Polish only and closes the Group C ATT set opened by attributeATT · tulajdonít and continued by attributeATT · приписвам. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, German, Dutch, and Norwegian ATT twins are live. FIN / XFER remains pointer-only. No Polish MERIT page is shipped here.
