Working paper. Norwegian micro-entry continuing the Group D Germanic ATT set after DE zuschreiben and NL toeschrijven (both already live) on shared letters with live creditMERIT · NO. Geometry from Lexical_Entry_Attribute_Argument_Structure and Group A Larson shells; NegQ association maps from Negative_Questions_Attribute (chats 15 / 26). Norwegian Case cloth from the live MERIT page and Larson shells Group D: V2, no stranded particle, til-Target, bli vs få. Index 2 Attitude prints legge skylden på only — this page deepens the ascribe-content reading of bare tilskrive Beyond Index 2. Constructed Norwegian diagnostics diagnose the til-Target + ACC Charge cloth, Voice filter, missing with/DOC/på/for clothes, light-noun tilskrivning / attribusjon scout, and the ATT / MERIT / blame / XFER·FIN splits; they are not spontaneous-speech citations and not fake elicitation. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Hungarian, German, and Dutch ATT twins already live; Navajo companions deferred.
Constructed examples. Frames below are packaging hypotheses aligned with the lexical entry, Group A shell plate, NegQ Attribute paper, the German and Dutch ATT twins, and the Norwegian MERIT twin (tilskrive / æren). Cause-true and settlement are not entailed — same missing defaults as creditMERIT · NO and blame. Do not fake elicitation. XFER / FIN strings (godskrive) appear only as contrast pointers.
Sense-class · ATT / MERIT / blame / XFER split (shared letters with MERIT). Index 2 lists Norwegian Attitude as legge skylden på only (Vol. 7). This page deepens the ascribe-content reading of bare tilskrive as √ASCRIBE (content / cause / authorship geometry; polarity open — not meritorious by default). It links the blame string and does not invent an Index 2 listing for tilskrive. creditMERIT writes positive / meritorious polarity (light-noun æren / fortjeneste). Blame / legge skylden på ascribes fault. Ledger / book-HAVE readings sit at attributeXFER / FIN pointer godskrive. Keep the roots / polarities apart: bare ATT keeps til-Target + ACC Charge as content-ascribe and does not import MERIT’s æren / fortjeneste praise packaging as the default ATT cloth — same ATT/MERIT letter-overlap discipline as DE zuschreiben and NL toeschrijven.
Scout / deferred. Light-noun tilskrivning / attribusjon productivity vs bare tilskrive is scout-leaning. æren / fortjeneste stay on the live MERIT page — not the default ATT cloth. Navajo HANDLE packaging for Target shares Group A notes but is not a micro-entry this tick. No fake elicitation.

Hierarchy

Same inventory as English attributeATT, Spanish atribuir, French attribuer, Italian attribuire, Mandarin 归因于, Japanese 帰する, Hungarian tulajdonít, German zuschreiben, and Dutch toeschrijven. Not five-place. Not four sisters of one V. Surface count can name the board, the early completion, the contractor, and an outer cause — but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √ASCRIBE.

Intended labeling (shared with English · Norwegian cloth)

√ASCRIBE + VoiceJ(Judge) + Charge + Target  ·  hierarchy Cognizer / Judge > Charge / Content > Target

Voice introduces Judge (proto-Agent of the attitude). The ascription relates Charge to Target under HOLD. Norwegian spells the productive cloth as ACC Charge + til-PP Target (tilskrive noe til noen) — Germanic twin of German DAT Target + ACC Charge and Dutch IO / aan-Target, with DAT mostly gone. Light-noun tilskrivningen / attribusjonen parks content-type N with Target in a til-PP — scout. bli promotes Charge. få is out. Optional high Affectee is not listed as an inner argument, and it is not spelled by a få-passive.

No MeasureP on ATT. There is no verbal Amount+Denomination object unless Charge itself has been recoded as a quantified share (hybrid — flag, do not deepen as verbal MeasureP). Degrees that sneak in live on the Abney spine of Charge or of a light noun — Left Branch Condition for sell / pay / chargeFEE / creditFIN does not apply as a verbal diagnostic here.

What Group D changes is Case morphology and the named MERIT/FIN packaging split. What it does not change is the inventory. Weather still satisfies Target and fails Judge. Cause-true is still not entailed. Charge and Target still do not invert at Transfer cost. Treating attributeATT as Agent > Theme > Goal, collapsing it with MERIT because both can sit next to Norwegian tilskrive, or collapsing it with XFER/FIN because Norwegian can talk godskrive for ledger, predicts a DOC, a HAVE entailment, a MeasureP LBC host, a productive with-frame, or a grammatical weather-as-Judge — none of those exist on ATT.

Norwegian frames · Case clothes

Germanic packages ascribe-content without a productive DOC and, in Norwegian, without a productive dative. Productive cloth: Charge ACC, Target til-PP (tilskrive noe til noen). The finite verb is V2 and til- stays on the stem — there is no stranded particle of the German zu- / Dutch toe- type. Cheap NegQ association and cheap WH track ACC = Charge. creditMERIT advertises light-noun æren / fortjeneste (praise-adjacent); bare attributeATT keeps the same til+ACC cloth as content-ascribe and does not treat æren as the default ATT packaging. XFER / FIN use godskrive for MeasureP / Account — different root; pointer only below.

# Har de ikke tilskrevet den tidlige ferdigstillelsen til entreprenøren? — meaning the contractor didn’t cause it. cause-true not a default

A bare Nei on the canonical NegQ most readily challenges the ascription event or the ACC Charge. Challenging the til-Target wants that content already under discussion. Negation does not grow a double-object, does not restore a dative, does not strand a verb particle, and does not create a med-frame, a på/for blame cloth, or a MeasureP on ATT. HOLD is not cause-true — parallel to MERIT’s missing cause default and FIN’s missing payout default.

WH / NegQ diagnostics · no MeasureP LBC

Unlike sell / payGIVE / chargeFEE / bet / creditFIN, attributeATT has no verbal MeasureP. There is therefore no Left-Branch Condition of the Amount-from-Denomination type on √ASCRIBE. Degrees that appear are DP-internal on Charge or on a light noun (tilskrivning / attribusjon scout — not æren as the default ATT cloth).

  1. ✓ Hvem har tilskrevet den tidlige ferdigstillelsen til entreprenøren? WH = Judge
  2. ✓ Hva har de tilskrevet til entreprenøren? WH = Charge · ACC
  3. ✓ Til hvem har de tilskrevet den tidlige ferdigstillelsen? WH = Target · til

  8. * Har det dårlige været ikke tilskrevet forsinkelsen til entreprenøren? weather still not Judge
  9. * Hvem fikk den tidlige ferdigstillelsen tilskrevet? få does not promote Target

Superiority ranks Judge > ACC Charge > til-PP Target > outer. There is no ranking of Charge against a silent Purpose, Price, or Theme₂. Cheap NegQ association tracks the Case object (= Charge under the til-Target cloth). Pied-piping til hvem is the Target question. A stranded verb particle (skrev … til) is not that question and is out.

til-Target ≠ Goal HAVE · Charge ≠ FIN MeasureP · ≠ MERIT æren

til-Target = ascribee under HOLD — not sell Recipient HAVE, not allocate Goal with optional HAVE, not FIN wallet / Account. Charge = content of the attitude — not ledger Amount, not sell Price, not pay Consideration, and not MERIT’s praise-adjacent light-noun æren / fortjeneste as the default ATT cloth. Group D: godskrive resumes FIN quantity / Account; ATT stays on bare tilskrive / light-noun tilskrivning / attribusjon.

Geometry · attributeATT ≠ creditMERIT ≠ legge skylden på ≠ attributeXFER ≠ sell

In Rådet tilskrev den tidlige ferdigstillelsen til entreprenøren, the board holds that the early completion is ascribable to the contractor. That is ascription, not HAVE of goods and not ledger INCREMENT. The early completion is Charge. The contractor is Target. HOLD is an attitude; cause-true is not a presupposed fact. Polarity is content-ascribe, not MERIT’s positive HOLD by default.

English twin spells to-frame Charge ACC / Target to. Spanish twin: Charge ACC / Target a. French twin: Charge ACC / Target à. Italian twin: Charge ACC / Target a. Mandarin twin: 把 Charge / 于 Target. Japanese twin: Charge o + Target ni. Hungarian twin: DAT Target + ACC Charge. German twin: DAT Target + ACC Charge (jmdm. etw. zuschreiben); separable zu-. Dutch twin: IO/DAT-like Target + ACC Charge and aan-Target; separable toe-. Norwegian twin: til-Target + ACC Charge; no stranded particle; bli promotes Charge and få is out; light-noun tilskrivning / attribusjon scout. Weather OK as Target, not as Judge. Document-metonymy Judge OK.

bli-passive (promotes Charge):
VoiceP [ ChargeNOM
  vP / √TILSKRIV-
    PP_til Target ]

få-passive: out (no DAT IO left to promote)

Norwegian ATT never assigns four structural Cases, and it does not assign a productive dative. Charge is ACC; Target wears til-PP (or lives inside a light-noun cloth). No low ApplHAVE. No low ApplSWAP. No ApplTASK. No MeasureP (unless quantified-Charge hybrid — flag). High Appl / Affectee is extra when present and is not a listed argument of √ASCRIBE. æren is not the default light noun on this tree. få does not supply an extra layer.

Composition is V(DP) on the ACC Charge. til-Target is a PP on the Abney spine of Target (same cut as German DAT / Dutch aan / English to): V(DP) for Charge, not a Path. Early completion does not travel a path; the contractor is not a Goal with HAVE rights. V2 puts the finite verb in second position. til- remains a prefix of that verb. The preposition til introducing Target is a different morpheme from a stranded separable particle.

Pronoun height: ham/henne/dem resume Target inside til-PP; den/det can resume Charge. Inanimate Target is fine. Inanimate subject as Judge is not generated — that is the Voice filter, not a Case accident.

bli promotes Charge to subject. The Target stays in the til-PP. få does not promote Target, because the old dative is gone. There is no laten / lassen wrap that washes the Voice filter. Weather remains unable to be Judge.

Omission does not demote Charge to a pure adjunct. Selected Case layers are optional in the numeration; they are still arguments when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under Case, binding, and WH — not omitability. Charge clauses are islands in a way rationale adjuncts are not; there is no Neg-raising out of Charge.

Group D packaging · Norwegian continues Germanic ATT

Group D (German, Dutch, Norwegian) is the Germanic Case-cloth / named-root contrast set already predicted for NegQ on blame / sell / bet / chargeFEE / credit. Same hierarchy as English attributeATT; Norwegian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as til-PP. The verb is V2 and does not strand a particle. bli promotes Charge; få is out. Pronouns resume Target inside til-PP. This tick is Norwegian ATT only and continues the Group D Germanic ATT set opened by attributeATT · DE and continued by attributeATT · NL. Live creditMERIT · NO already hosts the meritorious reading of shared tilskrive (light-noun æren / fortjeneste) — keep the ATT/MERIT split; this page does not import that cloth as the default. With DE, NL, and NO live, the predicted Group D ATT trio is in. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, and Hungarian ATT twins are live. FIN NO godskrive remains pointer-only. Group C follow-on: BG приписвам is live at attribute-att-bg.html. PL przypisywać stays predicted — not elicited here.
