attributeATT · 帰する / 帰属 (kisuru / kizoku)
Attitude / ascribe-content sense in Japanese. Working name √ASCRIBE. Hierarchy Judge > Charge > Target — Charge is the ACC (o) object; Target wears ni. Same family as blame · Japanese and creditMERIT · Japanese, different Case packaging from blame (blame’s ACC is Target). Primary packaging 帰する; companion 帰属する scout; keep discourse overlap with MERIT’s use of 帰する as a positive-leaning cloth without collapsing roots. No DOC, Double-o unused, no with-frame, no for/on alternation, no verbal MeasureP. Keep attributeXFER / FIN 計上 / 付与 split.

Working paper.
Japanese-only micro-entry from Tritransitive attribute NegQ / ATT-vs-XFER packaging (Negative_Questions_Attribute; Lexical_Entry_Attribute_Argument_Structure; chats 15 and 26; Group A Japanese note: predicted 帰する / 帰属 vs XFER 計上 / 付与). Constructed diagnostics diagnose ACC Charge vs ni Target, Voice filter, Double-o ban, polarity neighbors, and the blame / MERIT / XFER / FIN contrasts; they are not spontaneous-speech citations. Mandarin twin live at attribute-att-zh.html. English twin live at attribute-att.html. Navajo companions in the same Group A notes are pointed only — this tick does not deepen them.
Constructed examples.
Frames below are packaging hypotheses aligned with Group A notes and the Japanese Case cloth already used on credit-merit-ja.html (ACC vs ni) and blame-ja.html (ACC = Target under 責める). Cause-true and settlement are not entailed — same missing defaults as English attributeATT, Mandarin twin, blame · JA, and creditMERIT · JA. Do not fake elicitation. Scout-leaning forms (帰属する productivity vs primary 帰する; discourse boundary vs MERIT 帰する / blame せいにする) are flagged.
Beyond Index 2.
Index 2 does not list Japanese under Attitude / Evaluation. Like blame · Japanese, creditMERIT · Japanese, and sell · Japanese, this root sits Beyond Index 2 as a Group A remainder sense×language page. Neighbouring temperature Index 2 classes (Risk / kakeru) are not a translation of attributeATT. Multi-sense lemma — sense subscript on the headword (attributeATT), never concatenated attributeATT.
Scout / deferred.
Navajo classificatory Target packaging shares Group A but is not a micro-entry this tick. Relative productivity of companion 帰属する vs primary 帰する, and of discourse overlap between ATT 帰する and MERIT’s listed 帰する companion / blame’s …のせいにする, is scout-leaning where the extract lists forms without ranking them. English twin now deepened. No fake elicitation.
Hierarchy
Same inventory as English attributeATT and Mandarin attributeATT · ZH. Not five-place. Not four sisters of one V. Surface count can name the board, the early completion, the contractor, and an outer cause — but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √ASCRIBE.
Intended labeling (shared with English · Japanese cloth)
Voice introduces Judge (proto-Agent of the attitude). The ascription relates Charge to Target. Japanese spells the default verbal cloth as ACC (o) on Charge under 帰する / companion 帰属する, with Target in ni (English to; Mandarin 于). That is the packaging contrast with blame: blame’s ACC is Target under 責める; attributeATT’s ACC is Charge. Companion polarity cloths keep the same Charge-ACC / Target-ni geometry when they are general ascribe — still one ascription, still no HAVE / SWAP / MeasureP. Optional high Affectee / outer CAUSEG (〜させる) wrap Voice; they are not listed inner arguments.
No MeasureP verbal object. Hybrid strings like “30% of the savings” are quantified Charge of ATT, not XFER MeasureP — replaceable by ascribe, not by wire. Degrees that sneak in live on the Abney spine of Charge or of a light noun — Left Branch Condition for sell / pay / chargeFEE does not apply as a verbal diagnostic here. Floating counters under negation that split N from Num+# (MeasureP_Japanese_Counters) are irrelevant as verbal MeasureP on ATT.
What Group A Japanese changes is particle cloth (ACC Charge, ni Target; Double-o unused). What it does not change is the inventory. Weather still satisfies Target and fails Judge. Cause-true is still not entailed. Charge and Target still do not invert at Transfer cost. There is no productive DOC of Charge+Target as two bare Themes. There is no with-frame and no for/on alternation (unlike blame).
Japanese frames · Case clothes
Japanese packages attributeATT without a productive DOC. Under primary 帰する, Charge is ACC (o); Target sits in ni. NegQ under -nakatta ka tracks the Case object — ACC Charge. Companion 帰属する keeps Target in ni (often with Charge as subject / topic of a belonging-ascribe reading — scout ranking). Scout-leaning: relative productivity of 帰属する vs 帰する; keep せいにする / 責める split (blame ACC = Target).

Superiority ranks Judge > Charge > Target. It does not rank Charge against a silent Purpose, Price, or Theme₂. Cheap NegQ association tracks the Case object of the cloth: Charge under …を…に帰する. Target sits inside ni and is marked for cheap association — same as English to-Target / Mandarin 于-Target under NegQ.
o-Charge ≠ blame o-Target · ni-Target ≠ FIN Account · o ≠ FEE money
を…に帰する = Charge ACC, Target ni — not blame’s 悪天候を責める (Target ACC), not FIN’s 各ウォレットに 0.3 ETH を入金する (MeasureP / Account), not FEE’s 二十ドルを請求する (money QP). Same particle letters track different Incremental Themes under different roots.
In 理事会は早期完成を請負業者に帰した, the board holds that the contractor is the source/cause/author of the early completion. That is ascription, not HAVE of goods and not SWAP of Themes. Early completion is Charge. Contractor is Target. HOLD is an attitude; SOURCE(Target, Charge) is content, not a presupposed fact.
≠ English DOC / Transfer invert. There is no productive *理事会は請負業者を早期完成を帰した as two bare Themes. Double-o is unused — same ban as other JA pages (sell, pay, deduct, credit, blame). Negation does not rescue it. Transfer Themes invert under Romance NegQ; attributeATT Charge and Target do not at Transfer cost.
≠ blame packaging merge. Shared family (ascribe content) and shared Voice filter; blame writes FAULT polarity with ACC = Target (悪天候を遅延のせいで責める / …のせいにする). attributeATT writes general ASCRIBE with ACC = Charge (遅延を天候に帰する). Keep the Case-object split; do not collapse to blame-ja.
≠ creditMERIT polarity merge. Shared Case seats (ACC Charge / ni Target) and shared particle spelling with credit-merit-ja.html; MERIT writes positive / meritorious HOLD (功績を認める). ATT is general ascribe — 帰する can lean merit in discourse when listed as MERIT companion, but this page keeps the general √ASCRIBE reading. English MERIT has a with-frame that can put Target in ACC; Japanese ATT / MERIT default keeps Charge ACC — Target never becomes Spec,T.
≠ attributeXFER / creditFIN. Japanese already splits: ATT 帰する / 帰属 vs XFER/FIN 計上する / 付与する / 入金する. XFER / FIN take MeasureP ⟨n,U⟩ and write book-HAVE; ATT takes Charge and writes ASCRIBE. Hybrid “30% of savings” stays ATT. Live contrasts: attribute-xfer.html, credit-fin-ja.html.
≠ chargeACCUSE / 告発. Legal / speech-act overlays stay on chargeACCUSE. On attributeATT, ACC fronts Charge — different cloth.
Missing defaults. Cause-true and settlement are not entailed. 遅延を天候に帰さなかったのか is compatible with the weather not in fact causing the delay.
English twin pointer (shallow stub): Charge as object, Target as to-PP; no DOC / with / for / on. Mandarin twin: 把 Charge 归因于 Target. Spanish / French / Italian Index 2 atribuir / attribuer / attribuire often keep one verb for ATT and XFER — need the inner-relation split even more. Japanese already splits (帰する vs 計上する). Weather OK as Target, *not* as Judge.
Attribute Group A Larson shells. Read as attributeATT (ascription). attributeXFER is a different root and is not this drawing. Japanese this tick deepens the JA cell of the same plate; the figure is not re-derived in prose here.

Japanese attributeATT never assigns four structural Cases. Charge is the ACC (o) object; Target is inside ni (chat 26 §6.4: the DP is the argument; to/ni/于 is a wrapper it wears — composition V(DP), not V(to(DP))). No low ApplHAVE. No low ApplSWAP. No ApplTASK. No MeasureP. No with-flip. High Appl / Affectee is extra when present and is not a listed argument of √ASCRIBE.
Outer CAUSEG (〜させる) wraps Voice — Type A. The causee, not the weather, is the Judge. Topic is not Spec,T. Passive-ish fronts Charge.
Omission does not demote Target to a pure adjunct. Selected K-layers are optional in the numeration; they are still arguments when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under Case, binding, and WH — not omitability.

Group A packaging · this tick Japanese twin after Mandarin
Group A (English clothes, Japanese 帰する / 帰属, Mandarin 把, Navajo scout) is the packaging contrast set already used for NegQ on attribute. Same hierarchy as English; different host of Charge Case and Target wrapper spelling. Japanese: ACC Charge 帰するni Target; Double-o unused; companion 帰属する scout. This tick is Japanese only — second Done language for lemma attributeATT (VERB_COUNT stays 10; Mandarin opened the lemma). Mandarin twin live at attribute-att-zh.html. English remains the shallow stub at attribute-att.html (not deepened this tick). Navajo classificatory packaging remains deferred — do not invent depth this tick. Group B Romance and Group C (HU Focus, PL GEN-neg) stay on their twin pages / predictions.

English stub deepen.attribute-att.html is shallow (hierarchy + a few frames; no working-paper flags / shells depth). Deepen in a later tick — not this one.
帰属する productivity. Listed as companion; relative naturalness vs 帰する, and belonging vs ascribe discourse lean, needs controlled elicitation — flagged scout-leaning, not closed.
MERIT / ATT 帰する boundary. credit-merit-ja lists 帰する as MERIT companion; this page keeps general √ASCRIBE. Polarity / light-noun ranking needs elicitation — do not invent a forced split beyond Case seats shared with MERIT.
blame せいにする vs ATT. Keep ACC-object split (blame Target vs ATT Charge). Boundary of fault-leaning discourse is scout where extracts list forms without ranking.
Navajo micro-entry. Same Group A geometry; HANDLE / classificatory packaging. Deferred — do not invent depth this tick.
Group C packaging. Hungarian Focus+nem, Polish GEN-neg predictions remain scout / predicted. No fake elicitation.
XFER / FIN contrast. Keep attribute-xfer and credit-fin-ja as contrast only — MeasureP object under NegQ. Do not merge roots.
