Hungarian micro-entry deepening Group C Inner European MERIT on
elismer (ATT HU already opened Group C on
tulajdonít; DE opened Group D MERIT on
zuschreiben). Geometry from
Lexical_Entry_Credit_Argument_Structure and NegQ association maps from
Negative_Questions_Credit. Focus uniqueness and Focus+
nem follow the Group C shell plate already used for live
attributeATT · HU (chat 04). Constructed diagnostics diagnose DAT Target + ACC Charge, prefix separation, light-noun
elismerés /
érdem, Voice filter, and the MERIT / ATT / blame / FIN splits; they are not spontaneous-speech citations. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, and German MERIT twins already live. Navajo deferred. FIN
jóváír is pointer only — this tick does not write a FIN page. Lemma already counted; the count stays 10.
Constructed examples.
Frames below are packaging hypotheses aligned with the lexical entry, Group C Focus notes, NegQ Credit paper, and Index 2 HU Attitude inventory. Cause-true and settlement are not entailed — same missing defaults as English creditMERIT, attributeATT, and blame. Do not fake elicitation. FIN strings (jóváír) and ATT strings (tulajdonít) appear as contrast, with the ATT twin already live.
Sense-class · MERIT / ATT / blame / FIN split (Index 2 five-lemma line).
Index 2 lists Hungarian Attitude as
hibáztat, okol, tulajdonít, elismer, jóváír (Vols. 3, 6). This page deepens the
merit / ascribe-positive reading of
elismer as √ASCRIBE (+). Live ATT twin
tulajdonít is content-ascribe on the same DAT+ACC letters — keep the split: MERIT light-noun
érdem /
elismerés advertises recognition packaging; bare
tulajdonít does not. Blame /
hibáztat /
okol ascribes fault (ACC typically Target). Ledger readings sit at FIN pointer
jóváír — named-root split already on the Index 2 line. MERIT has no MeasureP and no Account.
Scout / deferred.
Relative productivity of bare valakinek valamit elismer vs light-noun elismerés / érdem is scout-leaning. Companion ACC-Target + -ért praise cloth is scout where natural — not ranked against the DAT+ACC default. Bulgarian / Polish Group C companions, Dutch toeschrijven, and Navajo HANDLE packaging stay deferred. No fake elicitation. sell·Navajo still deferred.
Hierarchy
Same inventory as English creditMERIT, Romance twins, Japanese 功績を認める, Mandarin 归功于, German zuschreiben, and live Hungarian attributeATT. Not five-place. Not four sisters of one V. Surface count can name the investors, the early completion, and the contractor — but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √ASCRIBE.
Intended labeling (shared with English · Hungarian cloth)
√ASCRIBE (positive / meritorious) + VoiceJ(Judge) + Charge + Target · hierarchy Cognizer / Judge > Charge / Content > Target
Voice introduces Judge (proto-Agent of the attitude). The ascription relates Target to Charge under positive / meritorious HOLD. Hungarian spells the productive cloth as ACC Charge (-t/-ot/-et/-öt) + DAT Target (-nak/-nek) — valakinek valamit elismer. The prefix el- stays on the verb when nothing occupies Focus and separates when Focus or nem takes the preverbal slot. Light-noun elismerés parks recognition-type N with Target in dative; Poss-AGR on the event noun is Judge, not Target — scout, parallel to live ATT tulajdonítás. Light-noun érdem packages the meritorious Charge. Optional high Affectee / outer CAUSE wrap Voice; they are not listed inner arguments.
No MeasureP on MERIT. There is no verbal Amount+Denomination object unless Charge itself has been recoded as a share of credit (English lexical entry §5.4 hybrid — flag, do not deepen). Degrees that sneak in (az érdem mekkora része, partitives on Charge) live on the Abney spine of a light noun or of Charge — Left Branch Condition for sell / pay / chargeFEE / creditFIN does not apply as a verbal diagnostic here. Group C FIN/deduct GEN-neg on MeasureP is a different object; MERIT Charge under Focus+nem is content-Focus, not GEN-rewrite of a measuring QP.
What Group C changes is Focus uniqueness + nem association and the named MERIT/FIN root split on the Index 2 line. What it does not change is the inventory. Weather still satisfies Target and fails Judge. Cause-true is still not entailed. Target and Charge still do not invert at Transfer cost. Treating creditMERIT as Agent > Theme > Goal, collapsing it with attributeATT because both can spell DAT+ACC, or collapsing it with FIN because dative can also mark Account under jóváír, predicts a DOC, a HAVE entailment, a MeasureP LBC host, or a grammatical weather-as-Judge — none of those exist on MERIT.
Hungarian frames · Case clothes
Group C packages merit-ascribe without a productive DOC. Productive cloth: Charge ACC with Target in dative (valakinek valamit elismer). Cheap NegQ association and cheap WH track the focused Case object under Focus+nem, and the prefix el- leaves the verb. Light-noun érdem / elismerés parks recognition under the same root. ATT contrast uses live tulajdonít on the same Case letters with content polarity, not recognition. FIN uses jóváír for MeasureP / Account — different root; pointer only below. Blame ACC is typically Target.

# Nem a korai befejezést ismerték el a vállalkozónak? — meaning the contractor didn’t cause it. cause-true not a default
A bare Nem on the canonical content-Focus NegQ most readily challenges the ascription event or the ACC Charge. Challenging the dative wants Target already under Focus. Focus uniqueness: one preverbal Focus host — A KORAI BEFEJEZÉST or A VÁLLALKOZÓNAK, not both (chat 04, same cut as live ATT). The prefix cannot share that slot. Negation does not grow a double-object and does not create a MeasureP on MERIT. HOLD is not cause-true — parallel to FIN’s missing payout default and to blame’s missing cause-true default.
WH / NegQ diagnostics · Focus+nem · no MeasureP LBC
Unlike sell / payGIVE / chargeFEE / bet / creditFIN, creditMERIT has no verbal MeasureP. There is therefore no Left-Branch Condition of the Amount-from-Denomination type on √ASCRIBE. Degrees that appear are DP-internal on Charge or on the light noun érdem / elismerés. Group C FIN/deduct GEN-neg on MeasureP does not rewrite MERIT Charge as GEN — MERIT packages content-Focus / no GEN on Charge. WH is Focus, so el- separates.

Superiority ranks Judge > ACC Charge > DAT Target > outer. The productive cloth keeps Charge as Case object and Target as dative — parallel to German DAT Target + ACC Charge and to English to-frame, not a with-frame flip that would make Target ACC. Cheap NegQ association under Focus+nem tracks the focused Case object. There is no ranking of Charge against a silent Purpose, Price, or Theme₂.
DAT Target ≠ FIN Account · ACC Charge ≠ MeasureP · ≠ ATT tulajdonít · no GEN on Charge
DAT Target = ascribee under meritorious HOLD — not FIN wallet / Account, not bet Platform, not sell Recipient HAVE. ACC Charge = content of the recognition — not ledger Amount, not sell Price, not pay Consideration. Same Case letters as live attributeATT · tulajdonít — different polarity packaging. Group C: Polish GEN-neg rewrites MeasureP of FIN/deduct; Hungarian MERIT keeps content-Focus / no GEN on Charge. FIN resumes quantity / Account on jóváír; MERIT stays on elismer / érdem.
Geometry · creditMERIT ≠ attributeATT ≠ hibáztat/okol ≠ creditFIN ≠ Transfer
In A befektetők a vállalkozónak a korai befejezést elismerték, the investors hold that the contractor is responsible for the early completion under meritorious evaluation. That is ascription, not HAVE of goods and not ledger INCREMENT. The contractor is Target. The early completion is Charge. HOLD is an attitude; MERITORIOUS(Target, Charge) is content, not a presupposed fact. Polarity is positive / recognition, unlike live ATT tulajdonít, which ascribes content without advertising merit.
- ≠ attributeATT (tulajdonít). Shared √ASCRIBE family, shared DAT Target + ACC Charge, shared Focus+nem, and shared Voice filter. creditMERIT writes positive / meritorious polarity. Bare tulajdonít is the live Group C content-ascribe cloth at attribute-att-hu.html — keep the split: do not import ATT acceptability onto elismer as if recognition were the default content-ascribe, and do not import érdem packaging onto ATT. ATT HU already opened Group C; this tick deepens MERIT on the same group.
- ≠ blame / √ASCRIBE_FAULT (hibáztat / okol). Opposite polarity. Blame ascribes fault; credit ascribes merit. Shared Voice filter; polarity of HOLD differs. Blame’s ACC is typically Target (a vállalkozót hibáztatni a késésért); MERIT’s productive ACC is Charge (a korai befejezést a vállalkozónak elismerni). A scout ACC-Target + -ért companion on elismer is praise-adjacent, not the blame root and not the default MERIT cloth.
- ≠ creditFIN / jóváír. Group C names the roots on one Index 2 line. FIN writes MeasureP TO a Domain / Account (A tanács minden számlának 0,3 ETH-t jóváírt). MERIT has no MeasureP and no Account — keep on elismer / light-noun érdem. Collapsing them because both can sit next to Hungarian dative is the error the lexical entry was written to block. Pointer only — do not write a FIN page this tick.
- ≠ English DOC / Transfer invert. There is no productive bare DOC with two ACC objects. Negation / Focus does not rescue it. Transfer Themes invert under swap NegQ; MERIT Target and Charge do not.
- ≠ sell / ApplHAVE / chargeFEE. No ApplHAVE, no ért-Price MeasureP as verbal MERIT cloth, no ApplFROM Payer. Surface -ért on the scout companion is content of the attitude — not Price and not FEE Consideration.
- Missing defaults. Cause-true and settlement are not entailed. Nem a korai befejezést ismerték el a vállalkozónak? is compatible with the contractor not in fact causing the early completion. Ironic polarity is lexical HOLD content, not a fourth argument.
English twin spells to-frame Charge ACC / Target to and with-frame Target ACC / Charge with. Japanese twin spells Charge o + Target ni. Romance twins: Charge ACC / Target a/à; light-noun mérito/mérite/merito. German twin: DAT Target + ACC Charge (jmdm. etw. zuschreiben); light-noun Verdienst. Hungarian twin: DAT Target (-nak/-nek) + ACC Charge; Focus+nem with prefix separation; light-noun elismerés / érdem scout. Weather OK as Target, *not* as Judge. Document-metonymy Judge OK.
Shells, ApplP, and Case
Merge Merge
Judge, Charge, and Target are selected. DAT Target and ACC Charge merge under √ASCRIBE. Light-noun érdem / elismerés is a noun spine, not a fourth argument. No DOC, no ApplHAVE, no MeasureP in the numeration.
Agree Agree
T agrees with the Judge (NOM, φ; definite conjugation when Charge is definite). v agrees with ACC Charge. DAT Target is Case on the Abney spine of Target — not a second Agree for a Goal HAVE. Poss-AGR on elismerés is Judge, not Target.
Move Move
One Focus host moves preverbally. Focus+nem and WH force el- off the verb. Judge does not share Spec,Focus with Charge or Target. There is no second Spec,T. Prefix separation is Move of the particle, not a new argument.
Filter Filter
Voice: weather is not a Judge. The filter survives Neg and the causative wrap. Gold No verbal MeasureP — the Amount-from-Denomination LBC is negative on MERIT. DOC, with-frame, and blame onto-cloth are out. FIN jóváír is a different root.
- M1√ASCRIBE merges with ACC Charge
- M2DAT (-nak/-nek) merges with Target

Hungarian MERIT never assigns four structural Cases. Charge is ACC; Target wears DAT (or lives inside the light-noun / possessor cloth). No low ApplHAVE. No low ApplSWAP. No ApplTASK. No MeasureP (unless share-of-credit hybrid — flag). High Appl / Affectee is extra when present and is not a listed argument of √ASCRIBE. Focus is one host, not a second subject.
Composition is V(DP) on the ACC object. Dative Target is structural/oblique Case on the Abney spine of Target (same cut as English to / German DAT / Romance a/à): V(DP), not V(nak(DP)). Early completion does not travel a path; the contractor is not an instrument of -val/-vel and not a Goal with HAVE rights.
Pronoun height: neki/nekik resumes Target under light-noun and under many productive strings; ACC pronouns can resume Charge or érdem. Inanimate Target is fine. Inanimate subject as Judge is not generated — that is the Voice filter, not a Case accident. Definite conjugation tracks a definite Charge; mit takes the indefinite series.
Outer CAUSE (elismertet) wraps Voice. The causee, not the weather, is the Judge. Type A climbing unions Voice domains; Charge stays content and never climbs as a dative MeasureP. Under the wrap the prefix still separates when Focus+nem is present.
Omission does not demote Charge to a pure adjunct. Selected Case layers are optional in the numeration; they are still arguments when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under Case, binding, Focus, and WH — not omitability. Charge clauses are islands in a way rationale adjuncts are not; there is no Neg-raising out of Charge.

Group C packaging · Hungarian deepens Inner European MERIT
Group C (Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish) is the Inner European Focus / cluster / GEN-neg contrast set already predicted for NegQ on blame / sell / bet / chargeFEE / credit. Same hierarchy as English creditMERIT; Hungarian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as DAT, with unique preverbal Focus, Focus+nem, and separation of el-. Content-Focus / no GEN on Charge contrasts MeasureP GEN-neg on FIN/deduct (Polish) — packaging on listed hosts, not a fourth sister. This tick is Hungarian MERIT only and deepens Group C HU MERIT on elismer. It does not open Group C: live attributeATT · tulajdonít already opened Group C HU ATT. German creditMERIT opened Group D Germanic MERIT. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Mandarin MERIT twins are live. Bulgarian / Polish ascribe companions and Dutch toeschrijven stay predicted or next-queue — not elicited here. FIN HU jóváír remains pointer-only.
