Working paper. Bulgarian micro-entry continuing the Group C Inner European ATT set after Hungarian tulajdonít. Geometry from Lexical_Entry_Attribute_Argument_Structure and Group A Larson shells; NegQ maps from Negative_Questions_Attribute (chats 15 / 26) and the Attribute Group C shell plate (chat 04: BG cluster beside HU Focus and PL GEN-neg). Index 2 Attitude prints обвинявам / виня, приписвам / отдавам on one line — this page deepens the ascribe-content reading of приписвам. Constructed diagnostics diagnose ACC Charge + DAT/на-Target, clitic doubling as one Target, ли NegQ association, missing with/DOC/за/върху clothes, light-noun приписване (на ambiguity), and the ATT / blame / отдавам / XFER·FIN splits. They are working-paper hypotheses, not spontaneous-speech citations and not fake elicitation. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Hungarian, German, Dutch, and Norwegian ATT twins already live. There is no Bulgarian MERIT page. Polish przypisywać is live and closes Group C ATT. Navajo stays deferred.
Constructed examples. Frames below are packaging hypotheses aligned with the lexical entry, Group A / Group C shell plates, the NegQ Attribute paper, and the live Hungarian ATT twin. Cause-true and settlement are not entailed — same missing defaults as creditMERIT and blame. Do not fake elicitation. отдавам strings are scout pointers for an alternate ascribe cloth, not a MERIT entry. XFER / FIN ledger strings appear only as contrast pointers and are not Index 2 Attitude forms.
Sense-class · ATT / blame / отдавам / XFER split (Index 2 line). Index 2 lists Bulgarian Attitude as обвинявам / виня, приписвам / отдавам (Vols. 3, 6). This page deepens the ascribe-content reading of bare приписвам as √ASCRIBE (content / cause / authorship geometry; polarity open). Blame обвинявам / виня ascribes fault (ACC typically Target). отдавам can wear the same ACC + на cloth as an alternate ascribe — scout it, and do not deepen it as MERIT. No credit-merit-bg.html exists; do not invent that link. Ledger / book-HAVE readings sit at attributeXFER and a FIN MeasureP / Account pointer only. Bare ATT keeps ACC Charge + DAT/на-Target as content-ascribe.
Scout / deferred. Light-noun приписване is scout-leaning: Poss/AGR on the event noun ≈ Judge, Target as DAT/на. A single на-phrase is not morphologically GEN vs DAT — flag that ambiguity (parallel to Polish przypisanie notes) and do not rank it. отдавам stays a companion pointer. Polish przypisywać is live (GEN vs DAT spelled apart on przypisanie). Navajo HANDLE packaging is deferred. No fake elicitation.

Hierarchy

Same inventory as English attributeATT, Spanish atribuir, French attribuer, Italian attribuire, Mandarin 归因于, Japanese 帰する, Hungarian tulajdonít, German zuschreiben, Dutch toeschrijven, and Norwegian tilskrive. Not five-place. Not four sisters of one V. Surface count can name the board, the early completion, the contractor, and an outer cause — but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √ASCRIBE.

Intended labeling (shared with English · Bulgarian cloth)

√ASCRIBE + VoiceJ(Judge) + Charge + Target  ·  hierarchy Cognizer / Judge > Charge / Content > Target

Voice introduces Judge (proto-Agent of the attitude). The ascription relates Charge to Target under HOLD. Bulgarian spells the productive cloth as ACC Charge + DAT/на-Target — приписвам нещо на някого, with pronominal dative му / ѝ / им in the same Target slot. Full noun phrases do not inflect for dative; на is the nominal spell-out of that Slavic DAT Target, parallel to Hungarian -nak/-nek. Clitic doubling (му … на изпълнителя) is one Target written twice, not a second argument and not a DOC. Light-noun приписването parks content-type N with Target in DAT/на; a на-phrase on the event noun can also read as Poss/AGR ≈ Judge. Optional high Affectee / outer CAUSE wrap Voice; they are not listed inner arguments.

No MeasureP on ATT. There is no verbal Amount+Denomination object unless Charge itself has been recoded as a quantified share (hybrid — flag, do not deepen as verbal MeasureP). Degrees that sneak in live on the Abney spine of Charge or of a light noun — Left Branch Condition for sell / pay / chargeFEE / creditFIN does not apply as a verbal diagnostic here. Polish GEN-neg on a FIN/deduct MeasureP is a different object and is not this page. ATT Charge under не … ли is content association, not a GEN-rewrite of a measuring QP.

What Group C changes for Bulgarian is WH clustering and the на / clitic spell-out of DAT Target. What it does not change is the inventory. Weather still satisfies Target and fails Judge. Cause-true is still not entailed. Charge and Target still do not invert at Transfer cost. Treating attributeATT as Agent > Theme > Goal, collapsing it with blame because both sit on the Index 2 line, reading отдавам as MERIT, or collapsing it with XFER/FIN because a ledger can also name an account, predicts a DOC, a HAVE entailment, a MeasureP LBC host, a productive with-frame, or a grammatical weather-as-Judge — none of those exist on ATT.

Bulgarian frames · Case clothes

Group C packages ascribe-content without a productive DOC. Productive cloth: Charge ACC, Target as pronominal DAT and/or на-PP (приписвам нещо на някого). Cheap NegQ association and cheap WH track ACC = Charge or the DAT/на Target. отдавам can repeat that cloth as an alternate ascribe — scout, not MERIT. Blame keeps ACC on Target. XFER / FIN ledger strings are pointers only.

# Не приписаха ли ранното завършване на изпълнителя? — meaning the contractor didn’t cause it. cause-true not a default

A bare не on the canonical NegQ most readily challenges the ascription event or the ACC Charge. Challenging the Target wants the на-phrase or the dative clitic already in the associate. Negation does not grow a double-object and does not create a с-frame, a за/върху blame cloth, or a MeasureP on ATT. HOLD is not cause-true — parallel to MERIT’s missing cause default and FIN’s missing payout default. MERIT itself is not given a Bulgarian page on this tick.

WH / NegQ diagnostics · cluster note · no MeasureP LBC

Unlike sell / payGIVE / chargeFEE / bet / creditFIN, attributeATT has no verbal MeasureP. There is therefore no Left-Branch Condition of the Amount-from-Denomination type on √ASCRIBE. Degrees that appear are DP-internal on Charge or on a light noun (приписване scout). Group C Polish GEN-neg on MeasureP does not rewrite Bulgarian ATT Charge as GEN.

  1. ✓ Кой приписа ранното завършване на изпълнителя? WH = Judge
  2. ✓ Какво приписаха на изпълнителя? WH = Charge · ACC
  3. ✓ На кого приписаха ранното завършване? WH = Target · на · productive

  5. ✓ Какво беше приписано на изпълнителя? passive · Charge promoted
  6. ✓ Каква част от закъснението приписаха на лошото време? degree on Charge · Abney-side, not verbal MeasureP
  7. * Колко не приписаха на изпълнителя от завършването? no verbal MeasureP LBC host on ATT
  8. ✓ Cluster hypothesis: Кой какво приписа на изпълнителя? Group C multiple-WH fronting · not a ranked elicitation
  9. ✓ Приписаха закъснението на лошото време. weather = Target · fine
  10. * Лошото време какво приписа на изпълнителя? weather still not Judge

The shared hierarchy ranks Judge > ACC Charge > DAT/на Target > outer. Bulgarian multiple-WH fronting is a packaging note on that hierarchy (Group C cluster), not a fourth sister and not an elicited superiority paradigm. There is no ranking of Charge against a silent Purpose, Price, or Theme₂. Cheap NegQ association tracks the focused Case object (Charge under ACC; Target under DAT clitic or на). Productive Target WH is на кого. Formal кому is the same slot.

DAT/на-Target ≠ Goal HAVE · Charge ≠ FIN MeasureP · ≠ blame ACC · ≠ отдавам-as-MERIT

DAT/на-Target = ascribee under HOLD — not sell Recipient HAVE, not allocate Goal with optional HAVE, not FIN wallet / Account. Charge = content of the attitude — not ledger Amount, not sell Price, not pay Consideration. Blame’s ACC is Target; ATT’s ACC is Charge. отдавам may share the ATT cloth and is still not a merit root and not a live MERIT page. Group C: Polish GEN-neg rewrites MeasureP of FIN/deduct; Bulgarian ATT keeps content association / no GEN on Charge. Same на letters can show up next to a ledger account — different object.

Geometry · attributeATT ≠ обвинявам/виня ≠ отдавам-as-MERIT ≠ attributeXFER ≠ sell

In Съветът приписа ранното завършване на изпълнителя, the board holds that the early completion is ascribable to the contractor. That is ascription, not HAVE of goods and not ledger INCREMENT. The early completion is Charge. The contractor is Target. HOLD is an attitude; cause-true is not a presupposed fact. Polarity is open — content-ascribe, not a meritorious default.

English twin spells to-frame Charge ACC / Target to. Spanish twin: Charge ACC / Target a. French twin: Charge ACC / Target à. Italian twin: Charge ACC / Target a. Mandarin twin: 把 Charge / 于 Target. Japanese twin: Charge o + Target ni. German twin: DAT Target + ACC Charge. Dutch twin: IO / aan-Target + ACC Charge. Norwegian twin: til-Target + ACC Charge. Hungarian twin: DAT Target (-nak/-nek) + ACC Charge; Focus+nem. Bulgarian twin: ACC Charge + DAT/на-Target; clitic doubling is one Target; light-noun приписване scout. Weather OK as Target, not as Judge. Document-metonymy Judge OK.

Bulgarian ATT never assigns four structural Cases, and it does not assign a nominal dative ending. Charge is ACC. Target wears a pronominal dative and/or a на-PP (or lives inside a light-noun cloth). Doubling writes that one Target twice. No low ApplHAVE. No low ApplSWAP. No ApplTASK. No MeasureP (unless quantified-Charge hybrid — flag). High Appl / Affectee is extra when present and is not a listed argument of √ASCRIBE. отдавам is not a second root on this tree.

Composition is V(DP) on the ACC Charge. на-Target is a PP on the Abney spine of Target (same cut as Hungarian DAT / English to): V(DP), not a Path. Early completion does not travel a path; the contractor is not a Goal with HAVE rights. The dative clitic is a spell-out of that same Target, hosted before the finite verb when something precedes it (Съветът му приписа…) and after a verb-initial host (Приписаха му…). Clitic position is not a new argument.

Pronoun height: му / ѝ / им resume Target; го / я / ги can resume Charge. Inanimate Target is fine. Inanimate subject as Judge is not generated — that is the Voice filter, not a Case accident. Passive promotes Charge (беше приписано). It does not promote Target into a subject that still takes a bare ACC Charge.

Outer CAUSE wraps Voice. The causee, not the weather, is the Judge. Weather still fails as inner Judge under the wrap. There is no Neg-raising out of Charge.

Omission does not demote Charge to a pure adjunct. Selected Case layers are optional in the numeration; they are still arguments when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under Case, binding, and WH — not omitability. Charge clauses are islands in a way rationale adjuncts are not.

Group C packaging · Bulgarian continues Inner European ATT

Group C (Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish) is the Inner European Focus / cluster / GEN-neg contrast set already predicted for NegQ on blame / sell / bet / chargeFEE / credit. Same hierarchy as English attributeATT. Hungarian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as morphological DAT, with unique preverbal Focus and Focus+nem. Bulgarian hosts Charge as ACC and Target as pronominal DAT and/or на-PP. Multiple WH can front together (cluster hypothesis — not a ranked elicitation). There is no nominal GEN/DAT split: the light-noun на ambiguity is the Bulgarian reflex of the Polish przypisanie GEN (possessor / Judge) vs DAT (Target) note, and it is flagged rather than resolved. Polish GEN-neg on a MeasureP is a FIN/deduct fact and is not rewritten onto ATT Charge. This tick is Bulgarian only and continues the Group C set opened by attributeATT · tulajdonít. English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, German, Dutch, and Norwegian ATT twins are live. Polish attributeATT · przypisywać is live and closes the predicted Group C set (HU+BG+PL). FIN / XFER remains pointer-only. отдавам remains a scout on this page.
