Arguments
Intended labeling (shared with English) · working claim
√PAY_GIVE + ApplHAVE(Recipient, MeasurePAmount ⟨n, U⟩) + for-Consideration
Not a flat four-place root, and not four sisters of √PAY. One outer argument: Payer is Spec of Voice. Three inner arguments of the same event: Recipient in low ApplHAVE; Amount as the MeasureP complement of the root ⟨n, U⟩; Consideration as AGAINST on that same event, inside VoiceP. Consideration is not a fourth structural Case. When it is present, it is not demoted, and the MeasureP is not demoted, to a pure adjunct. Recipient, Amount, and Consideration stay inside the verb’s domain. They are not collapsed under one English gloss. Voice introduces Payer. Low ApplHAVE introduces Recipient and relates Recipient to the MeasureP. √PAY- / betale takes MeasureP ⟨n, U⟩ — Amount plus Denomination — as Incremental Theme of eHAVE. That theme is the money. The object family already used on the live Norwegian measuring pages (beløpet / tre beløp / decimal 0,3 ETH on trekke fra and godskrive, and printed tjue euro on belaste) is the MeasureP letter adopted here, together with the debt nouns the dictionaries print (husleie, skatt, erstatning). Under sentential ikke that same MeasureP keeps its form. ikke follows the finite verb, as on the live FIN, FEE, and deduct pages. There is no GEN-neg rewrite, and there is no case ending on the full DP for a genitive to replace. The argument difference against Dutch betalen and German bezahlen is the Recipient. Those pages file one: Dutch an unranked positional indirect object or aan+DP, German a morphological dative. Bokmålsordboka and Nynorskordboka print no Recipient for betale. The object they print is the debt or the amount. for+DP is what that money is paid for. A bare object pronoun in published prose is not ranked as a double object, and it is not ranked against til. til stays the preposition the live deduct page already names on unfilled overføre. Consideration for+DP is the dictionary letter (betale for middagen; Nynorsk betale 1000 kr for dressen), the same P live FEE resumes with printed hva … for. It is not a second object and not a price QP. Blame’s for is Charge. Deduct’s outer Reason is grunnet. Those are different licensers. hva … for resumes Consideration. It is not a fourth argument, and it is not a German wofür recopied as Norwegian. Index 2’s outer slot is labeled Purpose. If a Purpose phrase stacks beside that for DP, the split stays open and is not checked. The sourced paradigm is one word: present betaler, preterite betalte, perfect har betalt. Etymology is Low German betalen. Historical be- does not split, and Norwegian has no ge- participle to place outside it. It is not trekke fra’s preposition fra, and it is not godskrive’s bound god-. There is no Hungarian Focus host. Optional Platform / Source are extras — not Theme₃. Japanese -sase- is a derivational outer Type A wrap on another language. It is not a lexical causative, not a fourth argument of the inner verb, and not high Appl. This page does not invent a CAUSE domain.
Examples
The argument difference is the Recipient. Dutch files a positional indirect object or aan+DP, both constructed on that page, unranked. German files a morphological dative, constructed there, preferred. Norwegian dictionaries do not print either cloth. Bokmålsordboka (ordbøkene.no, article betale) gives: betale for seg; betale husleie; bli dømt til å betale erstatning; betale for middagen; betale skatt; betale med kort; ta seg godt betalt. The object, where one is printed, is the debt. for+DP is what the money is paid for. med+DP is an instrument. No indirect object and no til-phrase is in that list. Nynorskordboka prints the amount and the for-phrase together: betale 1000 kr for dressen, beside betale varene and betale for arbeidet. That is the same lemma in the other written standard. It is cited as Nynorsk, not rewritten as if Bokmålsordboka had printed it. The inflection Bokmålsordboka’s table prints is infinitive å betale, present betaler, preterite betalte, perfect har betalt, imperative betal, supine betalt. Origin: av lavtysk betalen, av talen ‘telle, betale’.
Published prose can put a bare object pronoun where the dictionaries print no Recipient. Knut Hamsun, Under høststjærnen (Samlede verker, the older orthography on runeberg.org): Da jeg straks vilde betale ham for lokalet, and later jeg betalte ikke for lokalet. The person is ham, object form, and for holds the premises. NDLA’s modern Bokmål of Sagaen om Gunnlaug Ormstunge prints a double object: Gunnlaug bød å betale ham en mark. That is a translation of a saga, not a dictionary frame, and this page does not rank it above the dictionary’s Recipient-less frames or against til. A modernized 1383 witness letter (DN II nr. 478, the modernization at hist.uib.no) uses both betale til den kannik and betalte ham … to øre. That modernization is not present-day Bokmål elicitation, and it is not used to rank til. Full DPs show no case ending. ham is the object form of han. It does not spell dative against accusative. Live Norwegian pages already say the dative is mostly gone, and få is out.

Finite betale sits in V2 as one word. The perfect is har betalt, the form the inflection table prints. A subordinate clause keeps the verb in one piece. Agreement is not a second argument. There is no Slavic aspect pair and no Hungarian preverbal Focus host. Strings below that are not the dictionary lines or the two prose citations are constructed. They reuse the MeasureP already printed on the live Norwegian pages and the for the dictionaries print. They are not elicitation. A til-Recipient is not given a check.

Negation · the object stays (no GEN-neg)
Under sentential ikke, the structural object does not change form. On the dictionary letter that object is the debt or the amount. The spell-out copies the noun already used on trekke fra: beløpet stays, tre beløp stays. tjue euro and decimal 0,3 ETH do not spell an ending either way. Full DPs do not show an accusative ending for negation to keep, and they do not show a genitive for negation to write. ikke follows the finite verb: har ikke betalt, the place live FIN, FEE, and deduct already use. This page does not star a Polish or German genitive as if it were a Norwegian word. These negation strings are constructed. Hamsun’s betalte ikke for lokalet is the sourced shape of ikke with for, in older orthography, and it does not rewrite a noun.

for+DP · dictionary letter · not a new P
Bokmålsordboka prints betale for middagen and betale for seg. Nynorskordboka prints betale 1000 kr for dressen and betale for arbeidet. On betale the money is the MeasureP when an amount is there, so for+DP holds the leftover goods or the occasion. That is Consideration, not a price QP and not a second object. Live FEE already swipes that P with printed hva … for. The constructed goods noun gressklipperen sits inside that same P. It is not a new letter. Blame’s Charge wears for on a different root (skylden for forsinkelsen on blame-no). Deduct’s Reason is grunnet, already used on trekke fra. hva … for resumes Consideration. It is not a fourth argument. Index 2’s optional outer slot is labeled Purpose. Whether a Purpose phrase can stack beside the Consideration DP is open. It is not checked. A grunnet string of betale is not printed and is not ranked as this Consideration.
One word · har betalt · not a particle split
The inflection table is the source for the forms. V2 places the whole finite verb in second position. The perfect places har in V2 and betalt with the verb, one word. Historical be- (Low German betalen, from talen ‘telle, betale’) does not leave the stem. Norwegian does not add ge- outside it. A right-edge particle would be a fake split. Separable-looking fra on trekke fra is a preposition, not a pattern copied onto betale. Bound god- belongs to godskrive. overføre is the companion, named only.

Index 2 companion · not this geometry
overføre is the other verb in the Payment cell (Vol. 7). This page does not fill a GIVE Case frame for it and does not open a transfer page. The live deduct page already names til on overføre as that companion’s recipient preposition. That naming is not a ranking of a til-phrase on betale. English remit / wire / transfer do not license a filled frame either. The same companion relation, each still unfilled and without a page: Dutch overmaken beside betalen, German überweisen beside bezahlen, Bulgarian превеждам beside плащам, Polish przelewać / przelać beside płacić, Hungarian átutal beside fizet, Italian bonificare / trasferire beside pagare.

Working paper · October 2026 · Norwegian micro-entry · Index 2 Payment · Group D
Give-geometry pay in Norwegian. The argument difference from Dutch betalen and German bezahlen is the Recipient. Bokmålsordboka and Nynorskordboka print none: the object is the debt or the amount (husleie, skatt, 1000 kr), and for+DP is what the money is paid for (for middagen, for dressen). Dutch files a positional indirect object or aan+DP. German files a morphological dative. A bare ham in published prose (Hamsun; NDLA betale ham en mark) is not ranked as a double object and not ranked against til. Amount is a MeasureP ⟨n, U⟩ (tjue euro / beløpet / tre beløp / 0,3 ETH). Under ikke that object stays. There is no genitive of negation. The perfect is har betalt. Same √PAY_GIVE + ApplHAVE geometry as English payGIVE, Dutch betalen, and German bezahlen. e2 is Recipient HAS Amount.

Working paper.
Norwegian micro-entry for Index 2 Payment
betale. Geometry is shared with
Lexical_Entry_Pay_Argument_Structure and the English
payGIVE page, and with live
Dutch betalen and
German bezahlen. Case clothes are guided by letters already printed on live Norwegian pages and by the dictionary frames cited below. Constructed diagnostics are labeled. They are not spontaneous-speech citations. Geometry is a working claim, subject to revision. The Recipient ranking is open because the dictionaries do not print one.
Sourced and constructed.
Dictionary lines and the Hamsun and NDLA strings are sourced and tagged. Every Pat/Chris/Styret clause is constructed. Nynorsk betale 1000 kr for dressen is cited as Nynorsk. The Bokmål clause Pat har betalt tusen kroner for kjolen is a constructed spelling guided by that line, not a second dictionary citation. Payment-true is e2 (Recipient HAS Amount). Goods-HAVE, invoice-clearance, debit/OWE, HAS_ON_BOOKS, and the decrement are not defaults of this root. Do not fake elicitation.
Class table.
Index 2 lists Norwegian Payment as betale, overføre (Vol. 7), with the line Agent > Amount > Recipient (> Purpose) and Amount = measuring. This page deepens betale only, as one payGIVE root. overføre stays the companion in that cell. No filled Case frame is invented for it. Index 2’s optional outer slot is labeled Purpose. The lexical entry’s for-layer on GIVE is Consideration. Norwegian’s dictionary letter, and the live FEE swipe, is for, resumed by hva … for.
Recipient letter, and the argument difference.
The argument difference against Dutch
betalen and German
bezahlen is the Recipient. Dutch’s working cloth is a positional indirect object or
aan+DP, unranked. German’s preferred cloth is morphological dative. Bokmålsordboka and Nynorskordboka print no Recipient for
betale: the object is the debt or the amount, and
for+DP is what the money is paid for. A bare object pronoun in published prose is not ranked as a double object and not ranked against
til.
ham does not spell a dative. Dutch is live (Done=106). German is live (Done=105). Navajo money-HANDLE stays deferred. Do not invent an
overføre geometry. Norwegian
payBILL is not opened.
Hierarchy
Same inventory as English payGIVE, the Romance twins, Hungarian fizet, Polish płacić, Bulgarian плащам, German bezahlen, and Dutch betalen. Not four-place. Surface count can name Pat, a person, twenty euros, and a lawnmower, but the lexicon does not list four co-arguments of √PAY_GIVE / betale, and the dictionaries do not print the person.
tjue euro = one MeasureP. Twenty is not euros. Euro is not a sister of betale. euro after the numeral does not display a case ending. It is not a second case of the verb. There is no extra argument “currency symbol.” beløpet is the same object. tre beløp is that same object as a counted QP. The unit stays inside it. Dictionary husleie / skatt / 1000 kr are that object when the frame prints an amount or a debt.
What this page changes, against Dutch and German, is Recipient marking: the cited dictionary frames have no Recipient. What it changes against Polish is the absence of genitive of negation on the MeasureP. The object stays under ikke. What it does not change is the inventory. On payGIVE, Recipient HAS Amount when a Recipient is in the geometry, and for holds the leftover DP. Payment-true is e2. There is no Norwegian sell page on this site, so goods-HAVE is not given a local Price cloth here.
MeasureP WH diagnostics
WH forces Amount ≠ Denomination inside one object of betale. Verbal WH sees the MeasureP, not unit and degree as two objects. No betale question is printed in the dictionaries. The printed Norwegian Consideration swipe on this site is hva … for on charge-fee-no. The FEE page says the Norwegian R-inventory is thinner than German wofür / womit / worauf, and it does not file those R-pronouns as Norwegian. The questions below reuse that swipe and the LBC shape already starred on the FEE page (Hva tjue har de ikke belastet Pat med?). They are constructed. There is no Hungarian preverbal Focus slot. V2 puts the finite verb in second position. hva … for resumes a leftover P. It is not a fourth argument. Recipient WH is not given a ranked form: the dictionaries print no Recipient to question.
- ✓ Hva har Pat betalt? constructed · whole MeasureP
- ✓ Hvor mange euro har Pat betalt? constructed · whole QP · unit inside
- ✓ Hvor mye har Pat betalt? constructed · degree · unit bound
- ✓ Hvilket beløp har Pat betalt? constructed · noun MeasureP · same object as beløpet · no case ending
- ✓ I hvilken valuta har Pat betalt? constructed · U recoding · the constructed rescue FEE already names · not a second object
- ✓ Hva har Pat betalt for? constructed spelling of printed hva … for · Consideration · not Amount · not a fourth argument
- # Hvem har Pat betalt tjue euro? constructed · Recipient WH · bare object · not ranked · the dictionaries print no Recipient
- * Hvor mange har Pat euro betalt? constructed · LBC · unit stranded
- * Hva tjue har Pat betalt? constructed · LBC · degree extracted · shape of FEE’s Hva tjue har de ikke belastet
Left Branch Condition: Amount lives inside MeasureP. The degree does not extract and leave the unit next to the verb. The rejection already on the FEE page is Hva tjue har de ikke belastet Pat med?. Hva tjue har Pat betalt? is that shape on this stem, tagged constructed. Rescues that keep Amount and unit inside one object are hvor mange euro and hvor mye with the unit bound. The rescue does not make euro a sister of betalt.
Geometry · payGIVE ≠ belaste ≠ payBILL ≠ godskrive ≠ trekke fra
In the dictionary frame betale 1000 kr for dressen, the amount is the MeasureP and for holds what the money is paid for. Give-geometry says a Recipient comes to HAVE that amount. Norwegian dictionaries do not print the Recipient. The HAVE claim is the shared geometry. The empty Recipient slot in the cited frames is the open packaging, and it is the difference from Dutch and German.
Which theta role is the object in this low ApplHAVE domain is the revisable note Causative templates and argument selection.
- ≠ belaste / ta betalt / chargeFEE. FROM dual. The levy is money FROM, e2 = debit / OWE. betale is money TO, e2 = Recipient HAS Amount. A shared for letter, swiped by hva … for, does not make the Appl head one. FEE’s filled cloth is accusative Payer + med-Amount. The printed question Belastet de Pat tjue euro? looks like a double object and is still FROM. ta betalt is the named get-paid companion, still unfilled, and it is not this Payment cell. siktet stays ACCUSE.
- ≠ payBILL. Invoice/obligation as the object; MeasureP as instrument. This page does not open a Norwegian BILL lemma, and it does not write fakturaen and the money as two objects of GIVE. e2 of BILL is invoice-clearance, not Recipient HAS Amount. Dictionary betale med kort is an instrument on the payment verb. It is not a document object.
- ≠ creditFIN · godskrive. Ledger increment. The printed cloth is an object MeasureP with på+Account (Styret har godskrevet 0,3 ETH på kontoen). e2 is HAS_ON_BOOKS, not payout and not Recipient HAS the cash. Bare til + Account is not the filed Account cloth there. Bound god- is that lemma’s prefix. betale does not take it.
- ≠ deduct · trekke fra. MeasureP leaves a Domain (fra+DP). e2 is the decrement. fra is a preposition. The object stays under ikke there too, and that does not define deduct. Payment stays betale, overføre in that page’s later-verb list. til on overføre is that later recipient preposition. It is not this Domain, and it is not ranked here as betale’s Recipient. Deduct’s grunnet is Reason, not this for.
- ≠ tilskrive / legge skylden på. ATT, MERIT, and blame. ATT and MERIT take til-Target + an accusative Charge on tilskrive and tilskrive. That til is ascription, not a payment Recipient, and those pages do not point at a pay placeholder. Blame’s accusative is the light noun skylden, its Target is på, and its for is Charge. None of them has a MeasureP of funds.
- ≠ bytte / gi / swap. Index 2 Transfer cites bytte; gi, not betale. betale does not invert money and goods.
- Payment-true is e2. A follow-up that the Recipient never ended up with the amount denies e2 of payGIVE when a Recipient is in the frame. Goods-HAVE is sell. Invoice-clearance is BILL. Debit/OWE is belaste. HAS_ON_BOOKS is godskrive. The decrement is trekke fra.
Ordinary coercion toward trade (Amount as Theme₁, the goods as Theme₂) is available and is not the listed grid. overføre is not filled in as that coercion.

Norwegian betale does not assign four structural Cases. Amount is the object when the frame prints a debt or an amount, and it stays that object under sentential ikke. Consideration is inside for, the dictionary P. The Recipient slot of low ApplHAVE is the working geometry. The dictionaries leave it empty. Published ham is an unranked spell-out, not a morphological dative and not Dutch aan. The English DOC applied-object slot — Recipient as a second accusative with an ending — has no twin, because Norwegian full DPs do not show that ending. There is no particle node. betalt does not split.
Absence of genitive of negation is not a new theta and not a missing argument. It is the behavior of the same MeasureP. ham, when prose uses it, replaces the person. It does not write the person twice, and it does not show accusative against dative.
Amount is Incremental Theme of pay on the give-reading. The goods DP inside for is Consideration, not Theme. Homomorphism is on ⟨n, U⟩. A passive that promotes the MeasureP is the promotion the measuring pages already use for the object. It is constructed here. bli promotes that object. få is out, the cut live FIN, FEE, blame, and deduct already file, because the dative is mostly gone. A få-passive is not elicited on betale and is not proof of a Recipient dative.

Voice filter: weather fails Payer. Institutional payers (the board, the bank) pass as Initiators on the live Norwegian measuring pages. The weather star below is that filter in the clothes already used for Belastet været Pat med tjue euro?. Constructed. A board can pay; weather cannot be the Payer.
Omission does not demote the MeasureP or Consideration to pure adjuncts when present. The diagnostic is participanthood under order, binding, and WH — not omitability. Norwegian does not add a fourth structural Case to make that diagnostic. The dictionaries’ omission of a Recipient is a fact about the cited frames. It is not a demotion of ApplHAVE out of the working geometry.

N/A · not Norwegian payGIVE diagnostics
Sibling pages omit diagnostics the language does not have. Norwegian betale is an object MeasureP that stays under ikke, a dictionary for+DP, and a Recipient the dictionaries do not print. It is not a copy of German morphological dative, Dutch aan, or Polish genitive of negation.
- A morphological dative on a full DP, or a Dutch aan-phrase, as this cloth. N/A. German bezahlen spells dative. Dutch betalen names aan. Norwegian full DPs do not show that ending, and aan is not a Norwegian preposition. ham is syncretic object form. The argument difference is this Recipient fact.
- A ranked til-Recipient. N/A as a settled letter. The dictionaries do not print til with betale. Live deduct-no already names til on unfilled overføre. ATT’s til is Target. The modernized 1383 letter is not used to rank the preposition.
- Genitive of negation. N/A. Polish płacić rewrites the MeasureP QP. Norwegian has no GEN-neg. The object stays. No Norwegian genitive string is printed, so none is starred.
- A ge- participle outside historical be-. N/A as a Norwegian spelling. The supine is betalt. Dutch betaald / gebetaald is that page. This page does not star a Dutch ge- form as a Norwegian word.
- A Hungarian Focus host, or a separated prefix of betale. N/A. One preverbal host is the cloth of fizet. fra belongs to trekke fra as a preposition. god- belongs to godskrive.
- A filled frame for overføre. N/A. The companion stays an Index 2 stem without a GIVE Case frame and without a page. No transfer page is opened.
- Romance or Bulgarian clitic doubling as this page’s adopted cloth. N/A. Those clothes stay on their pages. ham replaces the person. It does not write the person twice.
- Dutch voor, German für, Spanish por, or Polish za as Norwegian letters. N/A. The for-letter here is for, resumed by hva … for. Dutch voor and German für are the parallel hunches on those pages, not Norwegian words. Blame’s for and deduct’s grunnet are different licensers.
- A CAUSE domain, or Japanese -sase-, as a fourth argument. N/A. -sase- is derivational on Japanese, an outer Type A wrap. It is not a lexical causative, not a fourth argument of the inner verb, and not high Appl. This page does not invent a CAUSE domain. The subscript is Causative templates and argument selection.
- Japanese Double-o, Mandarin 把 / 给 / 为. N/A. Those clothes stay on pay-give-ja.html and pay-give-zh.html. Japanese attribute stays 属性する on its own page.
- Navajo money-HANDLE as a Norwegian stem. N/A. Sell · Navajo stays deferred. No Navajo data is invented here.
- The suffer reading as this geometry. Bokmålsordboka sense 2 prints dette skal du få betale dyrt for and the set phrase betale prisen. That reading is not e2 of Recipient HAS Amount. It is not opened as a second page.
NegQ pointer · association sites
Negative questions on payGIVE keep the payment map. They do not invent a fifth theta name, a Price, or an invoice. ikke does not rewrite the MeasureP. Reason stays outer. Goods-HAVE, invoice-clearance, debit/OWE, HAS_ON_BOOKS, and the decrement are missing as default Neg targets of this root. There is no particle to follow the verb, and no Hungarian Focus host under ikke. V2 and hva … for are not extra thetas.
Norwegian NegQ / WH–Neg core · constructed, except the Hamsun line already cited

Missing defaults: no goods-HAVE; no invoice-clearance; no debit/OWE; no HAS_ON_BOOKS; no decrement. A bare ikke after the finite verb challenges the payment event. Challenging the money wants the MeasureP, in the same form it has in the affirmative.
Group D packaging · this tick closes Norwegian
Group D is the Germanic set already used for V2 and the absence of genitive of negation. Same √PAY_GIVE hierarchy as English, Japanese, Mandarin, Romance, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, German, and Dutch. The cloth difference on this page, against Dutch and German, is the Recipient: the dictionaries print none, where Dutch files a positional IO or aan and German spells dative. The object MeasureP still stays under ikke. That stability is not a new argument. This tick closes Group D payGIVE on Norwegian betale, the way Group D deduct closed on Norwegian after German and Dutch. English is live at pay-give.html. Japanese harau is live at pay-give-ja.html. Mandarin 付 is live at pay-give-zh.html. Spanish pagar is live at pay-give-es.html. French payer is live at pay-give-fr.html. Italian pagare is live at pay-give-it.html; bonificare and trasferire stay unfilled. Hungarian fizet is live at pay-give-hu.html; átutal stays unfilled. Polish płacić / zapłacić is live at pay-give-pl.html; przelewać / przelać stay unfilled. Bulgarian плащам / платя is live at pay-give-bg.html; превеждам stays unfilled. German bezahlen is live at pay-give-de.html (Done=105); überweisen stays unfilled. Dutch betalen is live at pay-give-nl.html (Done=106); overmaken stays unfilled. The next Index 2 Payment step is a pause, or an unfilled companion. overføre is not opened here. Navajo money-HANDLE remains open/scout. Do not fake elicitation.

- Whether betale takes a Recipient double object. The dictionaries do not print one. NDLA prints betale ham en mark. Hamsun prints betale ham for lokalet. Neither is ranked against the Recipient-less dictionary frames, and neither is ranked against til. spec
- til as a Recipient cloth. Not printed in the dictionaries. Already named on unfilled overføre. Not ranked here. spec
- Purpose stacked on Consideration. Index 2’s outer slot is labeled Purpose. A Purpose stack beside the for DP is not checked as good or bad. spec
- Word order of a bare pronoun and the MeasureP. The constructed ham tjue euro follows the order NDLA prints (person before the amount). Other orders are not starred. spec
- A pause, or the companions. Another language of payGIVE would not increment VERB_COUNT. Group D payGIVE closes on this page. A pause is in order. overføre, overmaken, überweisen, превеждам, átutal, przelewać / przelać, and bonificare / trasferire stay unfilled, with no page. spec
- overføre. Named. No filled GIVE frame, no second root, no page. spec
- Norwegian payBILL. Not merged. No document + money double object is promoted to a second sense page.
- The suffer reading. Dictionary sense 2 and betale prisen stay off this geometry.
- Navajo sell. sell · Navajo stays deferred. No Navajo data is invented here.

Primary geometry is the English pay lexical entry. Norwegian clothes for the MeasureP, the stability of that object under ikke, V2, bli against få, and the weather filter are the strings already printed on the FEE, FIN, deduct, ATT, and blame micro-entries. The betale frames that are not constructed are the dictionary lines and the two prose citations. Index 2 Payment remains betale, overføre.

Series placement: Norwegian sense×language twin of English payGIVE, Japanese harau, Mandarin 付, Spanish pagar, French payer, Italian pagare, Hungarian fizet, Polish płacić, Bulgarian плащам, German bezahlen, and Dutch betalen. Closes Group D payGIVE on Index 2 betale. VERB_COUNT stays 10. Done=107. Dutch is live (Done=106). German is live (Done=105). The argument difference against both is the Recipient: the dictionaries print none, where Dutch files a positional IO or aan+DP and German spells dative. A bare ham in published prose stays unranked. The suggested following candidate is a pause, or an unfilled companion (overføre, overmaken, überweisen, превеждам, przelewać / przelać, átutal, bonificare / trasferire). Does not invent a BILL page, an overføre page, or Navajo. Speculation flagged. for+DP is the dictionary letter. The Recipient ranking stays open.
